Shaun Marsh aka Michael Clarke's door mat. You have to trample all over him before you get to Clarke's front door.

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
Jimmy Anderson & Josh Hazlewood both ruled out of the 5th Test.
England expected to keep the same team from the 4th Test, Patrick Cummins likely to come in for Hazlewood & Mitchell Marsh to return to replace his brother.

Yokels

Was in Australia when Smith took over as captain vs India when Clarke was injured and I have no doubt that the stories that the team preferred that had a basis in truth.
There has been enough going on during this series to show the truth of that.
Even in the build up to this last Test when the team went to Northants and Clarke stayed in London.
I agree with Ponting that some of the comments (especially by such a massive cunt like Matthew Hayden and the worlds luckiest man .... 'coach' Buchanan) have been unnecessary.
That said comments from other players praising Clarke have taken a long time to emerge. Maybe reluctantly.

Amazing how we won a 5th (FIFTH) World Cup amongst all that, hey?

Unlike many I actually think Australia's future is bright and the forced selection of some younger players will be for the best.

On the Clarke rumours, I've now seen 3 current Oz players interviewed since it came out that he wasn't very popular and all of their answers to the question make it bloody obvious that they all think he's a cunt.

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
Michael Clarke was very popular holding the Ashes after the second 5-0 whitewash in a decade.
Oh and when he picked up Australia's 5th World Cup trophy.

I get the impression Grayson has spent his time floundering in a soup of mediocrity being booed by yokels while he dreams of being able to afford Australian cricketers again.

Grayson receives Essex backing until end of season

Paul Grayson, Essex's beleaguered coach, has been confirmed in the role until the end of the season as the club's general committee has overwhelmingly resisted a recommendation from the new cricket chairman Ronnie Irani to remove him immediately from the post.

Irani's recommendation could hardly have been more disruptively timed, coming only a few days before Essex's NatWest quarter-final against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston which was duly lost in one of their most disappointing displays of the season.

The committee, clearly wary of a repeat, voted in Chelmsford on Monday to delay their decision on Grayson's future, even as Essex travelled to their final Royal London Cup group match against Sussex at Hove, another season-defining match in which victory would ensure them of a home quarter-final.

Grayson has supervised consistently excellent displays in limited-overs cricket since taking charge in 2008 with Essex second only to Hampshire in the number of victories in one-day cricket in that time. But while Hampshire have gone on to win trophies, Essex have often faltered in the final stages, encouraging Irani to press for change immediately upon being elected to the role last month.

Grayson, it is interesting to note, is one year into an official three-year plan in which it was made clear that the priority was to secure a one-day trophy and reshape a young Championship side based on home grown players. That commitment has been followed to the letter with a whole host of debutants given an opportunity to prove their worth for a county that lacks the pace bowling depth to sustain a serious challenge.

That did not stop Irani stating upon taking office: " We need to try to get into division one of the County Championship. We've fallen short of that for quite a few years now. We have to change and we have to improve massively.

"We have an immensely talented group of individuals and it is fair to say that at this moment in time we have underachieved in the last seven or eight years.

"We are still talented and it is great to see young players coming through like Nick Browne, Tom Westley and Jamie Porter. We have to make sure we keep doing that, while getting Essex back to the level that we were in years gone by, knocking on doors and trying to win trophies.

"At this moment in time Paul is the head coach and we have to respect that position until the cricket committee decide on anything different."

One candidate presented as Grayson's potential successor is Paul Nixon, a former England one-day keeper, although as he has spoken about his attention deficit disorder, ADHD, he would be an unusual choice to change the shift from short-form cricket to the four-day Championship.

Grant Flower, brother of the former England coach Andy, and now Pakistan's batting coach, has also been mentioned.

Quite how much Grayson can be blamed for a prolonged failure to reach Division One of the Championship is a question worth asking. As a coach, as opposed to a director of cricket, his powers have remained limited, much against the trend in the county game.

Essex still have one of the most traditional structures in county cricket with the cricket chairman - an office until Irani's arrival that was filled for 27 years by the former England U19 coach, Graham Saville - and captain, James Foster, having most influence on the big cricketing decisions.

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
None of the Australian boys have played Sheffield Shield cricket as yet.
Jake Doran has played a couple of t20 games for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash and has just moved from Sydney to Tasmania and is likely to play for them this upcoming season.
He is regarded as the big prospect from this group and over the two u19 series has scored over 700 runs at an average of 103.

Give him enough game time (if deserved obviously) and he'll hang around.

Lawrence was excellent and also won me a decent bit of wedge.

Yes I am sad and only backed him as he's ESSEX!

Also has a ton for Essex, so might have a little more experience than most of the other lads from both teams.

Series is 1-1 with 2 to play (the second match was washed out).
Play Thursday at Leicester and Saturday at Worcester.

Good experience for these players as they played a Test and 5 ODI's in Perth earlier in the year and now the same in England.
Has been pretty evenly matched with both Tests drawn and Aust won the ODI series downunder 3-2.

Re: Natwest t20 Blast Quarter finals
I saw this week that he said he wanted to play county cricket as soon as possible which would be a very good move for his development.
Has improved a lot in the last 12 months with better fitness and the influence of Justin Langer as coach of WA and still think he has a lot of upside.
Langer is doing a great job with some young players like Bancroft, Harris, M Marsh, Agar, Whiteman & Behrendorf. Big Bash & One day winners last season and beaten Sheffield Shield finalists and hopefully can get the full set this year.

125-5 at Lunch.

Mitchell Marsh continues to flay county 2nd XIs like he's playing on Brian Lara Cricket. However the flat footed, hard hands approach will see him average 25 in Test cricket!

Ha ha Matty, I like it.
Great STRENGTH IN DEPTH
Journeyman Australian club player scores a century for English county side while the Worlds Greatest Short Form player sees Lancashire home in the t20. While PISSED

If his intention was to end the international careers of Ahmed, Watson & Siddle he may have been a bit late.
Obviously a pointless game given the series is decided. In hindsight a break and a county game may have suited Australia better after the THIRD Test but to be honest they have batted so poorly I am not sure that would have made any difference.
